Preparing yourself adequately before building a loft conversion is a pinnacle step. From deciding whether or not to hire a an architect or build it yourself, to seeing how much actual space you will have and picking the appropriate windows for the build.

Once you have gone up into the attic and deciphered how much space you have it may be worth thinking about things like, where would you put the electrical points, how much light is available, will you need to build storage, have you got an inter-connecting attic with your neighbours, will you need an additional bathroom and heating up there and how would that effect the overall water pressure in the house.

Within the conversion it may be worth looking at space saving element of the build capitalising on space optimisation that should be fit for purpose. For example it may not be the most practical to make the loft conversion into a dining room being so far away from the kitchen, but it may be your prefect office space.
