You probably think you know the answer to this question already but don’t get smug just yet, you may know one or two of the reasons. Yes, the main reason is money. Houses, apartments and flats in London are extremely expensive to buy and rent so it can make sense for an individuals to choose to settle down in a surrounding town, getting a bigger and better house for their buck. That isn’t the only reason though. People can sometimes grow fed up of living on top of other people. In central London you will see block after block of flats with nothing more than a bedroom, a kitchen, a toilet and a balcony. There’s also the reliance on public transport because roads are too busy. Then there’s the fact that employment prospects in London continue to fall. So while the main reason for leaving the capital is the cost of living and buying, it’s also a lifestyle choice for many.
